CHAPTER 7 — “The Missing Girl Walked Into the Building”
The photograph never left Eleanor's hand.
Every wrinkle in the paper.
Every faded corner.
Every tiny detail became another clue.
The private investigators searched for weeks.
No birth records.
No adoption files.
No school history.
It was as if the little girl had vanished from existence.
Then, one rainy Thursday morning...
The receptionist called Eleanor's office.
"Mrs. Ashford..."
"There's a young woman downstairs asking for work."
Eleanor almost ignored the call.
Until the receptionist added one sentence.
"She says she found an old photograph with your husband's name written on the back."
