Chapter 5 - The Final Showdown

The wind from the helicopter rotors whipped Sofia’s hair across her face. The alpha dog stood by her side, its fur covered in ash, growling low.

"You won't press it, Victor," Sofia said, stepping forward slowly, her voice deadly calm. "You love your money too much. You love your life too much. You're a coward hiding behind a desk and a title."

"Try me!" Victor roared, his thumb hovering over the red button.

Sofia raised her gun, aiming directly at his hand. But before she could shoot, Victor smiled. He didn't press the detonator. Instead, he pulled a secondary remote from his pocket and pressed it. A heavy, iron cage door dropped from the rooftop rigging, trapping the alpha dog instantly. At the same moment, two remaining hidden snipers opened fire from the adjacent tower.

A bullet grazed Sofia’s shoulder. She gasped, falling to one knee, dropping her weapon. Blood soaked through her shirt.

Victor walked over to her, kicking her gun off the roof. He knelt down, grabbing her jaw roughly, forcing her to look at him. "You fought well, Volkova. Truly. But in my world, the house always wins. I'm going to take this flash drive, get on that chopper, and leave you to burn in your own family's ashes."

He reached into her pocket and pulled out the flash drive, holding it up like a trophy. He stood up, turning his back to her as he walked toward the waiting helicopter.
