Chapter 6 - THE ULTIMATE TWIST: The Real Puppet Master

Sofia lay on the concrete, bleeding, watching Victor walk toward the chopper. But instead of crying out, she began to laugh. A soft, mocking laugh that grew louder against the roar of the helicopter blades.
Victor stopped at the chopper door. He turned around, frowning. "What's so funny? You've lost."
"Look at the flash drive in your hand, Victor," Sofia shouted over the noise.
Victor looked down. The flash drive wasn't glowing blue like his standard tech. It was blinking a bright, rhythmic red. A tiny digital screen on the side of the drive suddenly activated, displaying a countdown timer: 00:03... 00:02...
"That's not the ledger," Sofia smiled, her teeth stained with blood. "That's the remote detonator for the C4 you planted in the basement. I rerouted the signal frequencies when I hacked your server room."
Victor’s eyes widened in pure, unadulterated horror. He tried to throw the drive away, but it was too late.
00:00.
Instead of the basement exploding, a massive thermite charge inside the helicopter’s fuel tank ignited instantly. A blinding flash of orange and white light consumed the helipad. The explosion threw Victor backward across the roof like a ragdoll, his body slamming into the concrete, severely burned and broken. The helicopter was reduced to a roaring skeleton of twisted metal.
Sofia slowly stood up, clutching her wounded shoulder. She walked over to the iron cage and released the alpha dog, who immediately licked her hand.
She walked over to the broken body of Victor. He was barely breathing, staring up at her in shock.
"You thought you were the one playing the game," Sofia whispered, looking down at him with total indifference. "But I leaked my own location to you weeks ago. I needed you to gather all your top capos, all your money, and all your security forces in one single place so I could wipe out the entire organization in one night."
Suddenly, the rooftop doors burst open. A dozen heavily armed tactical operators in black uniforms rushed out. But they didn't aim their weapons at Sofia. They immediately formed a protective circle around her, bowing their heads.
The leader of the operators stepped forward. "The entire city is secure, Boss. The Volkov Syndicate has officially reclaimed the throne."

Sofia looked back at Victor one last time as the flames illuminated the night sky. "Feed him to the dogs," she said coldly to her men, turning her back and walking away into the night, the true Queen of the underworld finally taking her crown.
THE END.
