Chapter 3 - DUST AND DECEITThe silence in the room stretched so thin it threatened to snap. Marcus’s charming smile slowly melted into a cold, calculated sneer. He adjusted his silk tie and leaned back, crossing his legs.

"So, Pamela spilled her guts," Marcus said, his voice entirely devoid of remorse. "I always knew that pathetic doctor was the weakest link in the chain."

"You tried to murder my son," Spencer said, his voice deadly low. "You put a newborn infant in a plastic bag and left him in the freezing rain."

"Your son?" Marcus laughed bitterly. "That child isn't just your son, Spencer. He’s the sole beneficiary of the Warren legacy! Do you have any idea what happens to the $4 billion trust if you die without a direct heir? It reverts to the board of directors—a board that I secretly control through shell corporations!"

Marcus stood up, pulling a sleek, silenced pistol from inside his tailored jacket.

"Jocelyn was supposed to terminate the pregnancy," Marcus spat, his eyes filled with malice. "Instead, she went to Pamela, used your frozen sample, and carried the child to term to blackmail me. She threatened to go to the press and reveal that I was skimming millions from the Warren accounts. I took care of Jocelyn two days ago. Her car 'accident' on Route 9 was very thorough."

Spencer’s blood ran cold. "You killed her."

"She was a liability," Marcus said coldly, aiming the gun directly at Spencer’s chest. "Just like that brat Charlee, just like her old grandmother in the hospital, and just like that crying mistake in the nursery. When I toss you and the kid off the cliffs tonight, the narrative will be simple: a grief-stricken billionaire, overwhelmed by a fake paternity scam, committed a tragic murder-suicide."

"You forgot one thing, Marcus," Spencer said calmly.

Marcus raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what’s that?"

"You're not the only one who knows how to play the long game."

Before Marcus could pull the trigger, Mrs. Mabel stepped out of the hallway shadows holding a heavy silver candelabra. With a sharp gasp of rage, the elderly housekeeper slammed it squarely across the back of Marcus’s head.
