Chapter 18 - THE BOARDROOM EXECUTIONThe boardroom on the fiftieth floor was bathed in crisp morning light.

Around the massive mahogany table sat the elite directors of Moretti-DeSantis Global, including Arthur Sterling—a silver-haired, immaculate man of seventy whose reputation for corporate integrity was legendary across the city.

"Good morning, everyone," Sterling said, smiling warmly as I walked in, followed closely by Luca. "I see we have some urgent new agenda items for today's session. I hope it doesn't interrupt our planned expansion vote."

"It won't interrupt it, Arthur," I said smoothly, taking my seat at the head of the table. "It will simply redefine it."

Sterling frowned slightly, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses. "Isabella, let's not waste time with theatrics. The board has a busy schedule."

"I agree completely," I replied. I tapped a key on my console, and the large smart-screen behind the conference table flickered to life.

Instead of quarterly earnings, the screen displayed a detailed network map of offshore bank accounts, encrypted wire receipts, and signatures bearing Arthur Sterling’s personal authorization stamp dating back six years.

The room went dead silent.

Color instantly drained from Sterling’s face. He gripped the edges of his leather chair so hard his knuckles turned white.

"What... what is this?" Sterling stammered, forcing an indignant laugh. "This is a fabrication! Some kind of malicious digital forgery!"

"Is it, Arthur?" I asked softly, leaning forward and resting my hands on the table. "Because the encryption keys match the master drive recovered from Marcus Vance’s secondary vault last night. Vance may be in federal prison, but his digital trail is quite chatty."

Sterling stood up, his voice shaking with panic and suppressed rage. "You can't prove a word of this! The board will never vote to validate an unauthorized witch hunt!"

"The board already voted, Arthur," Luca interrupted smoothly, sliding a tablet across the table. "While you were panicking, three independent federal prosecutors filed a formal warrant for your arrest based on the preliminary data packet we transmitted to them twenty minutes ago."

As if on cue, the heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open.

Two federal marshals stepped into the room, their badges gleaming under the bright lights.

Sterling looked around the table, realizing every single director was staring at him in cold, unblinking silence. He slumped back down into his chair, defeated, his empire collapsing around him in absolute disgrace.
