Chapter 20 - THE FINAL PROMISEOne year later.

The grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was packed with six hundred of the most powerful people in the city. The crystal chandeliers glittered overhead, casting a brilliant golden glow across the polished marble floor.
It was the annual charity gala of the Moretti-DeSantis Foundation.
I stood near the center of the room, wearing a custom midnight-blue silk gown that caught the light with every movement. My father stood proudly nearby, conversing with international dignitaries, while Luca walked up to my side, offering his arm with a warm, knowing smile.
"They're all looking at you again," Luca murmured near my ear.
"Let them," I replied, scanning the sea of respectful, awestruck faces in the ballroom.
There was no fear in this room. No deceit. No fragile silences or hidden traps waiting in the dark.
Only a future built by my own hands, standing side by side with the man who had never tried to make me smaller, but instead gave me the world to conquer.
As the orchestra began to play a soft, sweeping melody, Luca pulled me close against him beneath the chandelier, spinning me gracefully across the gleaming floor.
Cameras flashed.
Someone smiled.

And as the applause spread gently through the ballroom, I looked up into Luca's eyes and knew with absolute certainty:
This time, the story belonged entirely to me.
