Chapter 11 - THE SHOCKING TWISTThe crowd gasped. Ethan looked stunned.

"The wedding doesn't happen today," Rosa continued, her voice steady, echoing through the grand hall. "Because today, we aren't just marrying each other. We are starting over. No empire. No mansion. No secrets."
She turned to the audience. "Ethan has signed over the entirety of his assets to a public foundation. He has stepped down as CEO. We are leaving."
Victoria shrieked, "You're ruining everything! You're throwing away billions!"
Rosa laughed. "It wasn't ours to begin with. It was built on blood and lies."
As the crowd descended into pandemonium, Ethan and Rosa walked off the stage. They didn't head for the doors; they headed for the parlor.
They reached the black grand piano.
Lily was there, awake, sitting on the bench. She looked at her parents and smiled. She began to play a melody—the same one she had played the day the world changed.
But then, the twist happened.
A man walked out from the shadows of the room. It wasn't the police. It wasn't a rival.
It was Ethan’s mother.
The woman who had died twenty years ago. The woman whose portrait hung in the hall.
She looked at Ethan, her face aged but familiar. "You finally learned, didn't you?" she whispered.
The entire story—the coldness, the empire, the "death"—had been a social experiment, a twisted game orchestrated by the older generation to see if Ethan could ever love something more than his own reflection.
Ethan stood frozen, staring at the woman he had mourned for two decades.
"You..." he breathed.
"I didn't die, Ethan," she said, her voice cold. "I just left to see what you would do without me. And you did exactly what I hoped—you became a monster. But then, you met her." She gestured to Rosa. "And you chose to become human again."
She turned to walk away, the ultimate manipulator disappearing back into the shadows of the house.
Ethan and Rosa looked at each other. They had no money, no title, and a past that was a lie.
"Are you ready?" Ethan asked, holding out his hand.
"I've been ready for three years," Rosa replied.

They walked out the front doors of the mansion, leaving the empire to crumble behind them, stepping into the sunlight of a world that finally belonged only to them.
