Chapter 8 - THE ACCIDENTRosa drove, her mind racing. She was going to leave the state, change her name again, and start over. Lily was quiet in the backseat, clutching Button, her eyes fixed on the window.

Everything went black.
When she woke up, she was in a hospital room. The room was sterile, white, and suffocating. A doctor stood by the bed, his face grim.
"Where is she?" Rosa shrieked, sitting up, ignoring the IVs pulling at her arms. "Where is Lily?"
Ethan walked into the room. He looked like a man who had died and been resurrected. His clothes were stained with blood—not his.
"She's in surgery," he whispered, his voice cracking. "She’s going to be okay, Rosa. I promise."

"I don't know yet," he said, his eyes burning with a dark, dangerous light. "But I will find them. I will burn every single bridge in this city until I find the person who did this."
