Chapter 5 - The Siege of Saint AugustineWithin twenty minutes, Noah Grant and a dozen heavily armed Vale enforcers swarmed the warehouse. The bodies were cleared, the glass was swept, and absolute silence was restored.
Dominic stood by the front window, watching the rain beat against the repaired glass.
Claire stepped out of her office, her face pale, holding Sophie’s hand. The little girl looked sleepy, completely unaware of how close she had come to death.
"You killed them," Claire said, her voice trembling as she looked at the faint smear of red on Dominic's sleeve.
"They came here to kill you," Dominic replied coldly, not turning around. "Salvatore from Chicago is moving in. They know about this place because my father's financial trail wasn't as clean as he thought. They think Harbor House is my weak point."
"Then we'll leave," Claire said desperately. "We'll pack up tonight and go underground. Just... leave us alone, Dominic."
Dominic finally turned, walking slowly toward them until he stopped just a foot away. He looked down at Sophie, who yawned and rubbed her eyes.
"You can't run from Chicago," Dominic said flatly. "They have eyes everywhere. If you walk out that door tonight, you won't survive forty-eight hours."
"So what do we do?" Claire snapped, tears finally spilling over her lashes. "Just sit here and wait to be slaughtered?"
"No," Dominic said, a dangerous, razor-sharp smile touching the corner of his lips. "We take the fight to them. But first, we move."
"Move where?"
"Saint Augustine’s Chapel." Dominic looked toward the ancient stone walls that had hosted his father's funeral just yesterday. "It has reinforced crypts, heavy iron gates, and choke points that can hold off an army. My father's legacy started there. It's time to end the war there."

Claire stared at him in horror. "You want to turn a holy chapel into a war zone?"
"I want to keep you alive," Dominic corrected, his tone leaving zero room for argument. "Noah, get the transport ready. We're relocating Harbor House tonight."
