Chapter 8 - Whispers in the DarkLife inside a maximum-security federal penitentiary is loud, brutal, and unforgiving.

For Julian Vance, the transition from penthouse suites and private chauffeurs to a six-by-eight-foot concrete cell was a waking nightmare. He sat huddled on the edge of a steel-framed bunk, staring at the gray wall across from him, his designer clothes replaced by coarse, orange prison denim.
The heavy steel door of his cell clanked open.
A prison guard tossed a small plastic meal tray onto the floor. "Eat up, Vance. Lights out in ten."
Julian didn't touch the food. His mind was spinning, trapped in an endless loop of panic and regret. Every time he closed his eyes, he heard the sound of General Thorne’s boots echoing in the courtroom, destroying his entire life in a matter of minutes.
Down the cell block, in the women's maximum-security wing, Evelyn Vance sat in identical silence.

They had thought they were untouchable. They had believed that lies, forged documents, and a mother's perjury could erase a soldier's sacrifice.
Instead, they had learned the hardest lesson life has to offer:
