Chapter 1 - THE MIDNIGHT STRIKEThe city of Monterrey was a blur of neon lights as my taxi sped through the midnight chill, but inside my mind, everything was crystal clear, sharp as broken glass.

I sat in the backseat, holding Camila tightly against my chest. She had finally fallen asleep, exhausted from crying, her small cheek still stained with salt. Every rhythmic breath she took fueled a cold, calculating rage inside me. For three years, I had believed the lies. I believed my sacrifice—working eighty-hour weeks, flying across the country, managing multi-million-peso corporate accounts—was building a secure foundation for my family.

Instead, I had been funding a parasite colony.

We arrived at my high-rise apartment building. I didn't go upstairs yet. I checked into a quiet room at the boutique hotel down the street, laid Camila gently in a temporary crib, and sat down at the mahogany desk with my laptop.

My fingers flew across the keyboard.

As the primary account holder, secondary card administrator, and sole earner of every single peso flowing into our household accounts, I held absolute financial power. They had just forgotten who held the reins.

First, I accessed the main family checking account. I hit the freeze button, instantly blocking all debit cards, Apple Pay links, and online auto-pays.

Next, I targeted Daniel’s personal credit card—the premium black card I had generously provided for his "business networking and emergencies." Balance due: 184,000 pesos. Limit: Frozen. Instant decline on any transaction over zero pesos.

Then came Carmen’s monthly allowance transfer. Scheduled for the first of every month, automated, recurring, and generous. I deleted the scheduled instruction permanently.

Finally, I drafted an urgent email to my corporate attorney, Mateo Silva, marking it with high-priority red flags.

Mateo, I am initiating a no-fault-turned-contested divorce, emergency custody filing for my three-year-old daughter, and a full asset freeze/forensic audit regarding marital funds diverted to extended family members over the last thirty-six months. Meet me at my office tomorrow at 8:00 AM sharp.

I pressed send. The digital clock on my screen flipped to 1:15 AM.

The feast was over. Now came the reckoning.
