Chapter 10 - The Final PromiseThree months later, the estate gardens looked completely different.

The dead maple tree had been replaced with a vibrant, blossoming cherry tree, its pink petals dancing in the gentle spring breeze. The snow was entirely gone, replaced by emerald-green grass and blooming tulips.

Down on the lawn, beneath the warm morning sun, music was playing softly from a vintage gramophone on the patio table.

Emma Rossi sat on a picnic blanket, clapping her hands and laughing gleefully.

And right beside her, holding onto my hand with a radiant, unbroken smile, was Isabella.

She wasn't in a wheelchair. She wasn't wearing braces. Her small white sneakers stepped rhythmically in time with the music as she spun around in a light yellow dress, her laughter ringing out like silver bells across the courtyard.

I stood by the edge of the patio, holding a cup of black coffee, watching my daughter dance.

Sophia walked up beside me, handing me a small, folded piece of paper—an old letter written in Elena's handwriting that had been tucked away inside the base of the wooden bowl Emma used on that fateful day.

I opened it slowly. It read:

"My dearest Dante, if you are reading this, it means the storm has passed and our little girl is standing tall. Never forget that love is stronger than any empire, and light always finds its way through the darkest cracks. Take care of our angels."

I folded the letter, slipping it safely into my breast pocket right over my heart.

I looked back out at Isabella as she ran across the grass toward me, her arms wide open, her face lit up with absolute happiness.

I knelt down, catching her in a warm embrace, lifting her up into the air as she giggled.

The underworld could keep its crown, its blood, and its shadows. I had everything that mattered right here in my arms.
