Chapter 5 - THE UNEDITED TRUTHJulian slowly turned around to face the mega-screen. The frozen image of Maria and her pocket had vanished. In its place was a split-screen video feed with a live timestamp tracking backward by twenty minutes.

On the left side of the screen, the master suite dressing room was visible. Julian was standing in front of the open jewelry safe at precisely 6:50 PM.

The courtroom-clear audio filled the silent room.

“Damn it,” Julian’s recorded voice muttered on the speakers. “If the adjuster sees the synthetic stone, I’m dead. I need to get this out of here now.”

On the screen, Julian removed the necklace, placed it into a small velvet pouch, and walked directly out of the frame toward the back service corridor—the exact corridor where Maria’s coat had been hanging on the communal staff rack.

The right side of the screen showed a close-up angle of the staff rack. Julian could be clearly seen slipping the velvet pouch into Maria’s coat pocket, looking around nervously to ensure no one was watching.

Then, using a specialized portable digital interface, Julian plugged directly into the local security router, manually injecting a synthetic frame-overlay to make it look like Maria had pulled the necklace out of her own bag later that evening.

The entire living room was dead silent. The truth hung in the air, heavy, undeniable, and utterly devastating.

Eleanor stared at the screen, her face turning pale as chalk. All the arrogance, all the condescension, all the fierce superiority drained out of her in a single second. She looked at her husband—the man she had trusted, the man who had lied to her face every single day.

"You..." Eleanor whispered, her voice trembling with a terrifying fury. "You used me. You set up an innocent girl just to save your own miserable skin."

Julian stepped back, holding his hands up defensively. "Eleanor, wait, let me explain! I was backed into a corner! If I didn't get that money, those men would have killed me!"

"You bastard!" Eleanor shrieked, launching herself forward with her fingernails bared. She flew at Julian, clawing at his face before the armed guards quickly stepped in and pulled her back, struggling as she kicked and screamed in blind, hysterical rage.
