Chapter 27 - A New FoundationThat evening, Evelyn and Marcus sat at a corner table in an upscale downtown Chicago restaurant overlooking the twinkling lights of the city skyline.

The atmosphere was relaxed, filled with easy laughter, good wine, and the quiet comfort of two people who had weathered the worst storms together and emerged victorious.

“You know,” Marcus said, swirling the dark red wine in his glass, “if someone had told me three years ago, standing in the chaos of that aborted wedding disaster, that we’d be running a global architectural empire together today… I would have said they were completely insane.”

Evelyn smiled, resting her chin on her hand. “I think insanity is just life’s way of forcing us to rebuild stronger than before. If Adrien hadn't walked out that door, I would never have discovered what I was truly capable of building.”

“You didn’t just build a firm, Evelyn,” Marcus said softly, looking straight into her eyes with an intensity that made her breath catch slightly. “You built a sanctuary. And sharing it with you has been the greatest adventure of my life.”
