Chapter 14 - THE POISONED DINOSAUR: THE DEADLY STRAIN ONLY HER BLOOD COULD CURE

Our enemies realized they could not defeat us with weapons or political games, so they turned to cowardice. During dinner on the second night of the summit, six-year-old Leo suddenly collapsed onto the velvet carpet, his small frame convulsing as his breathing stopped.

“Papa... Maya... I can’t breathe,” he whimpered before slipping into unconsciousness.

The estate doctor rushed into the private suite, placing an oxygen mask over Leo’s face. “It’s a synthetic nerve toxin!” the doctor yelled in panic. “It was coated onto the plastic of his toy! It’s shutting down his internal organs!”

“Find the antidote!” Dante roared, throwing a chair through the glass cabinet in a fit of absolute terror.

“There is no synthetic cure!” the doctor replied, looking at the blood monitor. “The toxin binds to his specific blood type. The only way to flush it is a direct, continuous blood exchange from a biological parent who possesses the rare Romanov genetic antibodies!”

“Take my blood!” I shouted, throwing myself onto the medical gurney next to my son. “Take all of it!”

For six harrowing hours, while rival hitmen laid siege to the hospital wing outside, heavy lines pumped blood from my veins directly into Leo’s tiny body. I lay pale and trembling, my blood pressure dropping into the danger zone, but every time the doctor tried to stop the transfer, I gripped his wrist.

“Keep pumping,” I whispered weakly, watching the color slowly return to my son’s cheeks. “I’ll die before I let him stop breathing.”
