Chapter 15 - DANTE’S UNHOLY RAGE: THE NIGHT HE BURNED A CITY TO SAVE HIS WIFE

By the time the sun broke over the horizon, Leo was stable and sleeping peacefully, but the massive blood loss had pushed my heart to the brink of failure. I fell into a deep, life-threatening coma, my vitals barely registering on the heart monitor.

When Dante stepped into the room and saw my pale, motionless body hooked up to life support, something inside his soul shattered completely. The civilized mob boss vanished. The monster took complete control.

In a single, bloody night, Dante Vance unleashed the full force of his private army across Europe. He didn't ask questions. He didn't negotiate treaties.

He personally led a squad that leveled three cartel strongholds in southern France, burning their operations to ash. He dragged the chemist who created the toxin out of a safehouse in Milan and forced him to watch as his entire illegal empire was dismantled brick by brick.

When I finally opened my eyes forty-eight hours later, Dante was sitting silently at my bedside. His dark suit was stained with soot and rain, his knuckles bruised, and his eyes wild with a terrifying mixture of rage and grief.

When he saw my eyes open, the ruthless warlord fell to his knees beside my bed, burying his face in my blanket, his broad shoulders shaking as he wept silently.

“Don't ever do that again,” he rasped, his voice broken. “I can burn the world to ground, Maya, but I cannot live in the dark without you.”
