Chapter 14 - The Confrontation at SunsetThe evening breeze rustled through the oak trees of the park as Elena sat on the wooden bench, watching Mateo kick his soccer ball against the chain-link fence. The boy was laughing, his energy boundless, completely untouched by the dark machinery of the world his mother had fought to tear down.

A sleek black sedan pulled up quietly to the curb beside the park. The rear door opened, and a man in an expensive gray suit stepped out. It was Julian Sterling—the estranged cousin who had tried to distance himself from the family scandal months ago.

He walked slowly toward the bench, keeping his hands visible.

Elena didn't stand up. She simply turned her head, her gaze locking onto him with the quiet, devastating poise of a queen defending her throne.

"Elena Silva," Julian said, his voice measured and cautious. "I didn't come here to cause trouble. I came to talk."

"You have thirty seconds before I call Arthur Vance over here to throw you into the back of a federal cruiser," Elena said smoothly, her voice like glass over crushed ice. "Start talking."

Julian swallowed hard, slipping a manila envelope onto the edge of the bench. "The board is holding an emergency liquidation vote tomorrow morning. They want to settle every pending civil suit out of court to keep the remaining assets from being seized. They're offering a blank check, Elena. Name your price, sign a non-disclosure agreement, and the Sterling family will officially vanish from your life forever."

Elena looked down at the envelope, then raised her eyes to meet Julian's nervous gaze. She let out a quiet, chilling laugh.

"You still don't get it, do you?" Elena whispered, standing up slowly to tower over him despite the height difference. "You think everything in this world has a price tag. You can't buy back five years of my son's childhood. You can't buy back the nights I spent screaming into an empty crib. Keep your blood money, Julian. I want something much more valuable."

"What?" Julian stammered.

"I want total, public destruction," Elena said, her eyes flashing with absolute fire. "Tell your board to prepare for judgment day."
