Chapter 2 - The Audit of Arrogance"Manager Henderson," Maya commanded, her voice cutting through the heavy tension like a scalpel. "Lock the doors. Nobody leaves this building until I authorize it."

"Right away, Miss Sterling," Henderson replied crisply.

With a sharp click, the heavy, bulletproof glass doors of the grand entrance slid shut and locked automatically from the main security console. The panic inside the showroom escalated instantly. Several wealthy clients who happened to be browsing other sections of the boutique rushed toward the exit, only to find themselves trapped behind locked glass, staring inward with wide, bewildered eyes.

Elena’s face flushed a deep, mottled crimson. The humiliation of being trapped—not by police or rivals, but by a girl she had assaulted—ignited a blind fury in her chest.

"How dare you!" Elena shrieked, stepping forward and pointing a trembling finger directly into Maya’s face. "Do you know who my father is? My father is Marcus Vance! He sits on the municipal board and holds major contracts with the city's real estate development commission! The moment he finds out you locked me in here like an animal, he will ruin your father's business, shut down this store, and throw you into a black-site holding cell until you rot!"

Maya didn't even blink. She reached out with agonizing slowness and gently pushed Elena’s pointing finger aside, as if brushing away an annoying gnat.

"Marcus Vance," Maya repeated, tasting the name on her tongue like a foul flavor. "The man who made his fortune by cutting corners on public infrastructure projects and bribing zoning inspectors. The man whose company, Vance Real Estate, is currently under secret federal investigation for embezzlement and tax evasion."

Elena’s eyes widened in sheer terror. The color drained completely from her face, leaving her looking like a ghost. "How... how could you possibly know about that? That's classified corporate intelligence!"

"Nothing is classified when your father's entire financial survival depends on the mercy of Sterling Capital," Maya replied smoothly, pulling a sleek, customized black tablet from the pocket of her oversized coat. She tapped the screen twice, projecting a holographic display onto the sleek glass coffee table in the center of the showroom.

The projection displayed real-time financial documents, bank wire transfers, and internal corporate audits bearing the official seal of the Department of Justice and Sterling Capital's risk management division.

"As of this morning," Maya continued, her voice echoing coldly off the crystal chandeliers, "Sterling Capital holds seventy-four percent of Vance Real Estate's outstanding debt. Your father's company is technically insolvent. We didn't just buy this store, Elena. We bought the mortgage on your family's multi-million-dollar mansion in the hills, the loans on your imported sports cars, and the very trust fund that pays for your designer dresses."

Chloe and Beatrice, who had been standing silently in the background hoping to fade into the woodwork, suddenly turned on Elena like cornered cats.

"Elena! Is this true?" Chloe demanded, panic cracking her voice. "You told us your family was buying out half the city's commercial district next month! You said your father was untouchable!"

"Shut up! Shut your mouths!" Elena screamed at her friends, completely losing her composure. She lunged forward, her nails clawing toward Maya’s face in a feral fit of rage. "You lying bitch! You fabricated those documents! I'll tear your eyes out!"

Before Elena's nails could even graze Maya’s skin, two massive figures in black tactical suits materialized out of nowhere, having descended from the VIP mezzanine stairs. They grabbed Elena by her wrists with iron grips, twisting her arms behind her back with mechanical precision and forcing her down onto her knees against the pristine white marble floor.

Elena screamed out in pain and shock, her expensive silver gown tearing at the seams as she hit the ground. Her crown-like hairstyle fell apart, tumbling down around her shoulders in a disheveled mess.

Maya looked down at her, her expression as cold as a glacier.

"You have a habit of striking people who can't fight back," Maya said softly, crouching down until her face was inches from Elena’s tear-streaked, humiliated visage. "You slapped me because you thought I was a nobody. Let's see how much fight you have left when you are truly nobody."
