The mezzanine office had been expanded into a fully accredited coding and creative arts institute for underprivileged youth, now officially named The Vance-Hail Academy. Over fifty children sat at sleek wooden desks, building robots, painting murals, and learning how to code their own futures under the patient guidance of instructors hired and vetted by Ren and Nova.
Gideon stood by the second-floor railing, holding a cup of black coffee, watching the energetic chaos unfold below.
Sienna walked up, sliding an official federal closure document across the railing toward him. "The last of the consortium's offshore assets have been liquidated and deposited into the foundation's trust. The DOJ has officially certified the case closed. Permanent immunity, permanent security, permanent peace."
Gideon signed his name at the bottom of the digital tablet without reading the fine print. For the first time in his life, paperwork didn't represent control or risk mitigation; it represented an open door.
Ren and Nova walked up the mezzanine stairs, both wearing their signature green and yellow scarves, carrying two fresh pastries from the bakery down the block.
"Dad," Ren said, handing him a cinnamon roll wrapped in greaseproof paper. "We have a meeting with the city planning commission in twenty minutes. We’re expanding the after-school program to three new locations across King County."
