CHAPTER 3 – The Granddaughter They Hid From the World

The old man’s hand tightened around the phone.

For the first time since the bikers entered the diner, fear appeared in his eyes.

Not fear for himself.

Fear for the girl he had spent twenty-five years hiding.

“Where are you?” he asked.

The voice on the other end trembled.

“At the school theater... Grandpa, there are men outside. They’re asking for me by my real name.”

The commander’s face changed instantly.

“Sir, we need to move.”

But the old man didn’t move.

He closed his eyes.

Because only three people in the world knew that name.

One was dead.

One was standing beside him.

And the third...

Had betrayed him.

Within minutes, the convoy tore through the city.

At the school theater, children were rehearsing for a charity performance, unaware that danger had surrounded them.

Inside, a young woman named Emily stood backstage, clutching a little silver locket.

She had grown up believing her grandfather was just a quiet retired man.

But when she opened that locket earlier that morning, she found a hidden microchip inside.

And on it...

A video message from her mother.

“If you are watching this, Emily, it means your grandfather’s enemies have found you. Trust no one wearing a badge... except the man with the scar.”

Emily looked toward the theater entrance.

A police officer stepped inside.

He smiled gently.

“Emily Carter? Come with me. Your grandfather sent me.”

She almost stepped forward.

Then she saw his wrist.

A black snake tattoo curled beneath his sleeve.

The same symbol from the news reports.

Emily backed away.

The officer’s smile disappeared.

Smart girl.

He reached for his weapon.

But before he could raise it—

The stage lights exploded.

Children screamed.

Smoke filled the theater.

And through the chaos, the old man appeared at the side door, his scar glowing beneath the emergency lights.

“Emily!” he shouted.

She ran to him.

But just as he pulled her into his arms, a familiar voice echoed from the balcony.

“Touching reunion.”

Everyone looked up.

The commander froze.

The old man’s face went white.

Standing above them was the one person he trusted most.

His former partner.

A man the world believed had died twenty years ago.

And he was smiling.

“I told you,” the traitor said. “Old secrets always come home.”

Then he pointed at Emily.

“She doesn’t know what she really is, does she?”

The old man stepped in front of her.

But Emily whispered,

“Grandpa... what is he talking about?”

The traitor laughed.

“She isn’t just your granddaughter.”

“She’s the last living key to a fortune powerful men would kill to own.”

And before anyone could stop him...

May you like

The theater doors slammed shut.
