CHAPTER 8 – The Sister Who Stole Her Life

Emily couldn't speak.
A twin sister?
The words echoed through the grand hall like a nightmare she couldn't wake up from.
Her mother stepped slowly down the staircase, never taking her eyes off her.
"I wanted to tell you years ago," she whispered.
"But if I had..."
"Both of you would have been killed."
Emily shook her head.
"No."
"I don't believe you anymore."
"My grandfather lied."
"Michael lied."
"You lied."
"So why should I trust anyone in this room?"
Her mother stopped just inches away.
Without saying a word, she removed the necklace she had worn for decades.
It was identical to Emily's.
When the two pendants touched...
A soft click echoed.
The necklaces unlocked.
Inside each pendant was half of a tiny golden key.
Together...
They formed one complete key.
Michael's face turned pale.
"No..."
"You kept both halves?"
Her mother looked at him.
"I always knew this day would come."
Daniel suddenly realized what the key meant.
"The Genesis Vault..."
Emily frowned.
"What vault?"
Her mother took a deep breath.
"Forty years ago, Genesis wasn't created to build a criminal empire."
"It was created to hide something."
"Something governments were willing to start wars over."
She handed Emily the completed key.
"This opens the only vault no one has ever entered."
Before Emily could ask another question, the mansion shook violently.
An explosion shattered every window.
The tactical team rushed outside.
Black helicopters filled the sky.
Armored vehicles surrounded the estate from every direction.
But these weren't Genesis soldiers.
Their uniforms carried no insignia.
No flags.
No names.
Only a silver emblem.
Three crossed swords.
Daniel's face drained of color.
"Oh God..."
"They found us."
The commander whispered,
"Who are they?"
Daniel answered with one sentence.
"The people who created Genesis."
A deafening voice boomed from loudspeakers surrounding the mansion.
"Emily Carter..."
"You have exactly sixty seconds to surrender."
"Or everyone inside dies."
Emily looked around.
Her grandfather.
Her mother.
Michael.
The commander.
Each of them had spent years protecting her.
Each of them had lied.
But all of them looked terrified of the army outside.
Then...
The mansion's front doors slowly opened.
A woman dressed in black walked calmly through the smoke.
She looked exactly like Emily.
Same eyes.
Same face.
Same voice.
She smiled.
"Hello, sister."
"I've been waiting twenty-five years to finally meet you."
Emily stared in disbelief.
"My... twin?"
The woman nodded.
"Yes."
"But unlike you..."
"I know who I really am."
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small remote.
With one press of a button...
Every soldier outside lowered their weapons.
Not toward the mansion.
Toward her.
They all knelt.
Thousands of armed soldiers.
Kneeling before one woman.
Emily's twin smiled.
"You spent your whole life believing you were the heir to Genesis."
She stepped closer until they were face to face.
"You were never the heir."
"You were only the backup."
Emily's heart nearly stopped.
"What... are you talking about?"
Her twin leaned close and whispered five words that changed everything.
"I'm the one they chose."
Then she looked at everyone in the room and gave a single command.
"Arrest them all."
The soldiers stormed the mansion.
Daniel reached for his gun.
Michael pushed Emily behind him.
Her mother drew a hidden pistol.
But before a single shot could be fired...
Emily's twin smiled one last time.
And said the sentence that shattered every secret forever.

"Tell her who really ordered our father's murder."
