Chapter 9 - The Final PromiseBack at the penthouse overlooking the glittering city skyline, the evening breeze drifted softly through the open balcony doors. The city lights twinkled like a million diamonds, casting a warm, comforting glow across the spacious living room.

I sat at the grand piano in the corner of the room, playing a gentle, flowing melody that seemed to float effortlessly on the air.
Footsteps approached softly from behind. Lily walked up, leaning against the wooden curve of the piano, watching my fingers move across the ivory keys with quiet admiration. She wasn't the timid, terrified girl who used to cower in the corners of a hostile house anymore. She stood tall, her eyes bright, carrying the quiet strength of someone who knew she was truly loved.
"Arthur?" she asked softly as the final notes faded into the quiet room.
"Yes, princess?" I stopped playing and looked up at her with a warm smile.
"Do you think... do you think Mom is watching us right now?" she asked, her voice carrying a touching, gentle vulnerability.
I stood up, walked over, and wrapped my arms around her in a strong, protective hug, resting my chin gently on the top of her head.
"I know she is, Lily," I whispered, looking out toward the evening stars shining brightly above the city. "And she's smiling. Because she knows that no matter what storms come our way, we will never, ever have to be afraid again."

Lily hugged me back tightly, burying her face in my jacket. "Thank you for saving me, Uncle Arthur."
"I didn't save you, Lily," I murmured, kissing the top of her head. "You saved yourself. All I did was hand you the hammer."
