Chapter 14 - The Price of Blood

"Julian," Lorenzo’s voice echoed off the damp concrete walls, carrying a menace that made the air itself feel heavy. "You have three seconds to untie that child before I feed you to my dog."

Julian laughed—a dry, humorless sound that cut through the roar of the turbines. "Look around you, Lorenzo. Every support beam in this room is wired with high-yield C4. One twitch of my finger, and this entire underground sector—along with your precious little witness and your resurrected wife—collapses into the riverbed."

Isabella didn't flinch. She stepped forward, her revolver raised, tracking Julian’s chest with unnerving steadiness. "You talk too much for a dead man, Julian."

"Ah, Isabella," Julian mocked, tilting his head. "Always the fiery one. That’s why my brother tried to get rid of you six years ago. You knew too much about the international accounts. But tell me... does Lorenzo know everything you were hiding before your car went off the cliff?"

Lorenzo shot a quick, hard glance toward Isabella. "What is he talking about, Isabella?"

"Don't listen to him, Lorenzo!" Isabella snapped, her eyes narrowing on Julian. "He’s trying to divide us!"

"Am I?" Julian smiled wider, pressing a button on the small detonator box in his palm. "Ask her whose name was on the Swiss bank accounts that funded the opposition syndicates. Ask her who really set up the meetings with the federal prosecutors before the accident."
