Chapter 16 - The Corporate Throne

Three weeks later, the financial district of Manhattan buzzed with an unprecedented energy. The hostile takeover attempt by Viktor Vance had been quietly buried under a mountain of sealed federal indictments, and Moretti Global Logistics was officially declared the safest, most transparent corporate entity on the New York Stock Exchange.

Inside the fifty-floor executive boardroom, the morning sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, illuminating a polished walnut table surrounded by the most powerful executives in the city.

Maeve sat at the head of the table, wearing a crisp, tailored ivory suit. Her posture was relaxed, yet radiated an absolute, unshakeable authority.

Rocco stood by the corner of the room, leaning against his obsidian cane, though everyone in the room knew he hadn't needed it in months. He didn't hold a corporate title anymore; his official designation on the organizational chart was simply Founder and Senior Advisor, but every person in the room understood that he was the anchor of the entire enterprise.

"The South American expansion is fully funded and operational," Maeve announced, her voice carrying smoothly across the silent, attentive room. "Our logistics network now spans four continents, operating entirely within international regulatory compliance."

A murmur of respectful approval rippled through the board members.

"Before we adjourn," Maeve continued, her eyes scanning the room before locking onto the empty chair beside her, "let’s review the final quarterly audit."

She tapped her tablet, transmitting a clean, glowing financial projection onto the main wall screen. Every column was balanced. Every asset was legitimate. The blood money of the past had been completely scrubbed, transformed into a clean, indestructible global powerhouse.
