Chapter 4 - The Predator Unleashed

Julian stopped struggling against the guards. He slowly rose to his feet, adjusting his tailored tuxedo jacket with a sickeningly calm demeanor. The mask of panic was entirely gone, replaced by a cold, calculating sneer.

"Well," Julian said, his voice echoing loudly without a microphone. "I suppose congratulations are in order, darling. You always were smarter than my mother gave you credit for."

"You monster!" Sarah, the bridesmaid, wailed from the floor where she sat cowering. "You said nobody would ever find out! You said it was just about getting the money!"

"Shut up, you pathetic idiot," Julian snapped at her, not even blinking. He turned his attention back to Elena, taking a slow step forward. The security guards tightened their grip, but Julian didn't care. He looked at Elena like a wolf examining a trapped rabbit.

"You think you’ve won because you played a few audio files?" Julian laughed softly, a dark, manic sound. "Look around you, Elena. Every single person in this room—these judges, these politicians, these corporate CEOs—they all owe favors to the Vance family. Do you really think the police are going to arrest me based on a flash drive found by a disgraced pregnant woman?"

He was right. Elena noticed several prominent city council members shifting uncomfortably in their seats, their eyes darting toward the exits. Wealth and power had a way of buying silence, even in the face of absolute depravity.

"You're right, Julian," Elena said softly.

The warmth entirely drained from her face, replaced by an expression so cold, so terrifyingly devoid of emotion, that Julian actually faltered for a second. She didn't look like a victim anymore. She looked like an executioner.

Elena turned to Marcus Vance, the head of security. "Marcus. Are the perimeter gates locked?"

"Sealed biometrically, ma'am," Marcus replied crisply, standing at attention. "No one enters or leaves this floor without your authorization."

"Good," Elena said, unpinning the remaining torn fabric of her dress with steady fingers and tossing it to the floor, revealing a sharp, tailored crimson pantsuit underneath that she had worn beneath her bridal gown just in case of an emergency. "Because we aren't waiting for the police."
