Chapter 5 - The Corporate Execution

"What are you talking about?" Beatrice sneered, regaining a shred of her arrogant composure as she adjusted her fur wrap. "You have no legal standing to detain us! The Vance holdings board holds emergency quorum rights—"
"The board?" Elena interrupted, walking slowly toward the center of the ballroom like a queen inspecting her troops. She pulled her smartphone from her pocket and tapped the screen twice. "Look at your phones, Beatrice."
Almost simultaneously, the smart devices of every high-profile guest, board member, and investor in the room buzzed violently.
Beatrice pulled out her phone with shaking fingers. Her eyes widened in absolute horror as she read the notification banner.
[EMERGENCY BOARD RESOLUTION 09: ASSET FREEZE & ACQUISITION TRIGGERED] Effective immediately, Arthur Vance Holdings has exercised its super-majority contingency clause due to attempted fraud and corporate sabotage by Julian Vance and Beatrice Vance. All shares forfeited. Bank accounts frozen.
"No..." Beatrice gasped, clutching her chest. "That's impossible! You don't have the voting blocks! We own fifty-one percent!"
"You owned fifty-one percent of public stock," Elena corrected, her voice sharp as glass. "But my father left a golden share in a blind trust—one that only activated the moment an attempt was made to defraud his bloodline. The moment your son plotted to steal my assets and harm my child, the trust executed a hostile takeover. You are completely, irrevocably bankrupt, Beatrice. You don't even own the clothes on your back."
Julian lunged forward, losing all remaining self-control. "You bitch! You planned this!"
"I prepared for it," Elena corrected coldly, stepping aside as Julian charged blindly toward her.
With blinding speed, Marcus Vance stepped into Julian's path, executing a clean, professional sweep that sent Julian crashing hard onto the marble floor. Before Julian could draw another breath, Marcus zip-tied his hands behind his back and shoved him down beside his mother.

"Take them to the sub-level holding cells," Elena ordered quietly. "And confiscate every communication device they own."
As security dragged the screaming, flailing mother and son toward the service elevator, absolute silence descended upon the ballroom. The elite of the city sat frozen, realizing in a single moment that the quiet, gentle pregnant woman they had mocked and humiliated moments ago was now the sole owner of their financial livelihoods.
