Chapter 20 - BEYOND THE HORIZONThe next morning, the sun rose over Lake Geneva with a brilliance that seemed to wash away every remaining trace of yesterday.

I stood on the terrace once more, holding a steaming cup of coffee, looking out at the endless horizon where the jagged peaks of the Alps met the brilliant blue sky.
The past was a locked room, its key thrown into the deepest part of the lake. The future was an open road, wide and bright and entirely our own.
Marcus walked out onto the terrace, handing me a fresh stack of investment proposals for our new philanthropic foundation dedicated to helping women rebuild their lives free from domestic tyranny and fear.
"Where should we start signing, boss?" Marcus asked, a proud, unwavering smile on his face.
I took the pen from his hand, looked down at the blank paper, and then out at my daughter laughing as she chased butterflies across the garden lawn below.
