Chapter 6 - THE BETRAYAL OF THE INNER CIRCLEAdrian’s face turned an ugly, mottled shade of crimson. He looked as though he might stroke out right there on the polished marble floor.

"You..." Adrian pointed a trembling finger directly at my chest, his voice cracking with absolute disbelief. "You played me. You sat across from me at breakfast, you slept in my bed, you smiled at my mother's dinner parties... while you were building a dossier?"

You didn't just want me gone because I knew too much, Adrian. You signed my death warrant."
Valentina stared at Adrian in absolute horror, her hand dropping entirely from her stomach. "Adrian... is that true? You tried to kill your ex-wife?"
"Shut up, Valentina!" Adrian roared, losing his composure completely. He lunged toward me, his rage entirely overriding his survival instinct.
