Chapter 2 - THE FALLOUT

By the next morning, the video of the "Heiress Pool Push" was the number one trending topic globally. The contrast was too perfect for the internet to ignore: two ultra-wealthy, privileged women humiliating a working-class girl, only for the girl to turn out to be wealthier than both of them combined.

Inside the penthouse suite of the Grand Vance Hotel, Vanessa’s father, Marcus sterling, slammed his fist onto the mahogany desk. "Do you have any idea what you've done?!" he roared at his daughter, who sat sobbing on the velvet sofa, her makeup ruined.

"Dad, I didn't know!" Vanessa wailed. "She looked like a nobody! How was I supposed to know Arthur Vance’s daughter was playing dress-up as a lifeguard?!"

"It doesn't matter what she looked like! You don't assault people on camera!" Marcus yelled, his face purple. "The Sterling Group's stock dropped twelve percent within the first hour of the market opening. Our primary investors are pulling out. Arthur Vance just called me personally. He didn't yell. He just said one sentence: 'Your daughter likes the water, so let's see how well your company swims without oxygen.'"

Meanwhile, Chloe’s family was facing an identical catastrophe. Her mother’s luxury fashion line was being boycotted globally. Major department stores were pulling their products from the shelves to avoid being associated with the "cruel heiress" brand.

Desperate to save their reputations, Vanessa and Chloe’s PR teams organized an emergency press conference. They wore muted colors, minimal makeup, and held tissues, preparing to offer a scripted, tearful apology to Elena Vance and the public.

As the cameras flashed, Vanessa took the microphone. "We want to deeply apologize to Elena. It was an immature lapse in judgment, and we hope she can find it in her heart to forgive us..."

Suddenly, the large projection screen behind them flickered to life. It wasn't their apology video. It was a live broadcast from the Vance Group’s corporate headquarters. Elena was standing at a podium, completely dry, wearing a flawless tailored suit that radiated power.

"I receive many apologies today," Elena said directly into the camera, looking straight through Vanessa and Chloe. "But true accountability isn't found in tears meant to save a stock price. Therefore, the Vance Group is officially launching a full, independent audit into the financial practices of the Sterling and corporate partners. If you play dirty in public, let’s see how clean your books are in private."

Vanessa dropped her microphone. The crowd of reporters instantly turned away from the stage, sprinting out of the room to cover the massive financial war Elena had just declared.
