Chapter 3 - THE SECRET PARTNER

Weeks passed, and the pressure on the Sterling and Chloe's families reached a boiling point. Their fortunes were crumbling. Banks were calling in loans early, and former friends refused to answer their calls.

Sitting in a dimly lit VIP lounge, Vanessa and Chloe met secretly with a man whose face remained in the shadows.

"She’s destroying us," Chloe whispered frantically, biting her nails. "We have nothing left. My mother’s brand is bankrupt. Vanessa’s father is facing a board ouster. You said you could help us!"

The man leaned forward, the ambient light catching his sharp jawline and expensive watch. It was Julian Vance—Elena’s estranged cousin, who had spent years trying to claw his way to the top of the family empire.

"Elena thinks she’s untouchable because she has our uncle Arthur’s backing," Julian said, his voice smooth and venomous. "But she made a mistake. She focused so much on destroying your families that she left herself exposed. I've been tracking her personal assets. She didn't just inherit money; she runs an underground charity foundation that funds shelters across the city using anonymous accounts."

Vanessa looked up, her eyes gleaming with desperate hope. "How does that help us?"

"Because," Julian smiled, sliding a thick folder across the table, "I’ve altered the digital transaction logs. To the federal investigators, it will look like Elena has been using that charity to launder money and evade taxes. A multi-million dollar fraud scheme. The pure, perfect Elena Vance is about to become a federal criminal."

"Are you sure this will work?" Chloe asked, trembling.

"If she goes down, the Vance Group's board will force Arthur to step down due to the scandal," Julian explained. "I will take over the company. Once I'm CEO, I will restore your families' contracts and fortunes. All you have to do is deliver the final blow."

Julian handed Vanessa a flash drive. "This contains the fabricated evidence. Give it to the press tonight. Let’s see how the public likes their saint when she’s wearing a prison jumpsuit."
