Chapter 6 - THE FINAL PLOT TWIST

One year later.

The summer’s most anticipated charity gala was once again taking place at the Grand Vance Hotel's rooftop pool. The crowd was just as glamorous, the champagne just as expensive, and the music just as loud.

Elena Vance stood near the edge of the water, wearing a stunning, minimalist emerald gown. She was no longer hiding behind a uniform; she was the undisputed leader of the Vance empire, having officially taken over as CEO after her father’s retirement.

Guests lined up just to get a brief moment of her time, hoping to win her favor.

Near the service entrance, two women in plain staff uniforms were quietly moving through the crowd, carrying heavy trays of dirty glasses. Their hands were calloused, their faces pale, and their eyes downcast. It was Vanessa and Chloe.

As part of their bankruptcy settlement and restructuring agreement, they were forced into a court-ordered community labor program to pay off their remaining debts to the Vance Foundation—working minimum wage service jobs at the very venues they used to frequent as elite guests.

Vanessa accidentally bumped into a wealthy guest, spilling a drop of water onto the man's expensive suit.

"Watch it, you clumsy idiot!" the guest snapped, raising his hand aggressively. "Do you know how much this suit costs?!"

Vanessa cringed, bracing herself for the humiliation she had so often inflicted on others.

Suddenly, a firm hand caught the guest's wrist. The guest turned, angry, but froze when he saw Elena standing there.

"Is there a problem here, sir?" Elena asked calmly.

"Miss Vance! This... this incompetent staff member ruined my attire!" the man complained, expecting the billionaire CEO to take his side.

Elena looked at Vanessa, who was trembling, terrified of losing the job that kept her family housed. Then Elena looked back at the guest.

"Our staff are human beings, not targets for your frustration," Elena said, her voice carrying across the immediate circle of guests. "If you cannot treat the people who serve you with basic human dignity, you are not welcome at a Vance property. Security, please escort this gentleman out."

The guest, stunned and embarrassed, was quickly led away by guards.

Vanessa looked up at Elena, tears welling in her eyes. "Elena... after everything we did to you... why did you protect me?"

Elena smiled softly, a genuine, warm smile that had nothing to do with money or power.

"Because," Elena said, turning to walk back to the center of the gala, "my father taught me that the ultimate test of power isn't how hard you can strike back when someone pushes you down. It’s whether you choose to lift them up when they are finally at your feet."

As the crowd applauded Elena's grace, Vanessa and Chloe stood by the pool, finally understanding the true meaning of royalty—not the money in a bank account, but the wealth of a person's soul.
