CHAPTER 3 — The Nurse With the Black Gloves

The nurse disappeared before anyone noticed.

But Lily saw her.

She saw the phone.

She saw the fear in the woman’s eyes.

And then she saw something even worse.

Under the nurse’s sleeve was a tattoo.

The same symbol Lily had drawn in her nightmares for years.

A black eagle with a broken wing.

“Daddy…” Lily whispered, gripping Ethan’s hand. “That lady is bad.”

Ethan’s blood ran cold.

He didn’t know why, but the symbol felt familiar.

Then another memory hit him like a bullet.

A dark room.

His hands tied.

A man’s voice saying,

“Forget your family, Captain Cole. Forget everything… or they die.”

Ethan pulled the IV from his arm.

Emma gasped. “Ethan, you can barely stand!”

But he was already moving.

“We have to leave. Now.”

Before they reached the door, the hospital alarm suddenly screamed.

LOCKDOWN INITIATED.

Every exit sealed.

The lights flickered.

Patients began panicking.

Then the intercom crackled.

A calm male voice filled the hospital.

“Captain Cole… you should have stayed dead.”

Emma covered Lily’s ears.

Ethan stepped in front of them, weak but ready to fight.

At the end of the hallway, the nurse returned.

This time, she wasn’t alone.

Behind her stood the two men from the black SUV.

One of them smiled.

“Hello, Captain. We’ve been waiting eight years to finish this.”

Ethan’s memories came flooding back all at once.

The betrayal.

The ambush.

The missing soldiers.

And the truth about Lily.

She wasn’t just his daughter.

She was the only living proof of what they had done.

Because hidden inside her teddy bear…

May you like

was the final evidence that could destroy them all.
