Nathaniel closed the journal, pressing it softly against his heart.
Behind him, through the glass French doors of the study, he could see Claire sitting by the fireplace, reading The Tale of the Brave Lion aloud to Lily, whose soft, musical giggles filled the warm, inviting room.
