Chapter 11 - The Secret Wedding in the CloudsThe ring on my finger felt impossibly light, yet it anchored my entire world.

We didn’t want a cathedral filled with paparazzi, politicians, and business associates who only came for the networking. We wanted something real. Two days after Marcus proposed in the sky, we kept our promise to keep it intimate.
The wedding took place at 35,000 feet, aboard Marcus’s newly repaired private jet, soaring somewhere over the Midwestern plains where our story first began.
There were only four people in the cabin: Marcus, myself, little Annie in a custom ivory dress that made her look like a tiny angel, and a licensed officiant who looked half-terrified to be marrying a tech titan.
“Do you, Marcus Whitmore, take Emily Carter to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the officiant asked, his voice shaking slightly.
Marcus didn’t look at the officiant. He didn’t look out the window. His dark, intense eyes were locked entirely on mine, shining with a depth of emotion that words could never capture.
“I do,” Marcus said, his voice steady, clear, and laced with absolute devotion. “More than my life, more than my empire. I choose you, Emily, today and every day.”

When it was my turn, my voice caught on a joyful sob. “I do.”
As Marcus slid a platinum band against my diamond ring, he kissed me—not for the cameras, not for the headlines, but because we had finally found our safe harbor. And as Annie clapped her hands and giggled from her seat, I knew that no matter how chaotic the world outside was, inside our home, we were completely invincible.
