Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

Three months later, the San Diego sunshine felt warmer, brighter, and entirely free of poison.

The trial had been swift and absolute. The hidden camera footage, the medical toxicology reports provided by Sienna, David’s insider testimony, and the recovered journals from the basement sealed an airtight case.

Aria and Eleanor were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for conspiracy, fraud, and the premeditated murder of my mother. Julian pleaded guilty in exchange for a slightly reduced sentence, though the judge made it clear he would spend the next twenty years behind bars. The divorce papers had been finalized within weeks, and my maiden name was legally restored.

My health had fully recovered. Under Sienna’s medical supervision, the immunosuppressants were completely cleared from my system, and the chronic fatigue and joint pain vanished. My body was finally my own again.

On a bright Saturday morning, Chloe and I sat on the back patio, sharing a cup of freshly brewed chamomile tea.

David stood by the kitchen counter, setting down a plate of homemade pastries. After everything that had happened, David had helped me legally reclaim my mother’s rightful estate, exposing the decades of financial corruption and restoring our family’s legacy. He had become a trusted friend—a brother I never knew I needed, helping us rebuild from the ashes of betrayal.

Chloe took a sip of her juice, looking up at me with her bright, innocent eyes.

“Mommy?” she asked softly.

I smiled, wrapping my arms around her warm, healthy body. “Yes, sweetheart?”

“Is the tea good today?”

May you like

I looked down at the steaming mug in my hands, taking a deep breath of the soothing chamomile scent, knowing with absolute certainty that the dark chapter was finally closed.

“It’s the best tea in the world, baby,” I whispered, smiling as the sun warmed our faces. “And nobody will ever take this home away from us again.”
