CHAPTER 6 – The Daughter Who Came to Finish the War

Arthur Whitmore survived.
The surgeons fought for nearly nine hours before finally stepping out of the operating room.
"He made it."
The waiting room erupted in tears.
Ethan sank into a chair, his hands still stained with Arthur's blood.
He had spent his entire life believing Samuel Reed was his father.
Yet when Arthur collapsed in front of him, shielding him from the bullets, only one word had escaped his lips.
"Dad."
Samuel quietly sat beside him.
"I never wanted to steal him from you."
Ethan looked at the old janitor.
"You didn't."
"You saved me."
The two men embraced as both silently cried.
Three days later...
William Whitmore sat alone inside a maximum-security prison.
Every television station in America carried the same headline.
"Billionaire Arrested After Thirty-Year Kidnapping Conspiracy."
But William wasn't worried.
He smiled as he made one phone call.
"There is one last person who still owes me."
Meanwhile...
Arthur finally opened his eyes in the hospital.
The first face he saw was Ethan's.
Neither man spoke.
Arthur simply reached out with trembling fingers.
Ethan took his hand.
Thirty years of stolen memories disappeared in that single moment.
"I don't care who raised me," Ethan whispered.
"You almost died saving me."
"That makes you my father."
Arthur couldn't hold back his tears.
"I've waited my whole life to hear those words."
The emotional reunion was broadcast across every major news network.
Millions of people watched the billionaire and the mechanic embrace like father and son.
But someone else was watching.
A young woman sitting in a small apartment nearly dropped her coffee.
Her name was Olivia Brooks.
She stared at Arthur's face on television...
...then at the birth certificate lying on her table.
The names matched perfectly.
Arthur Whitmore.
She whispered,
"So... it's true."
At that exact moment, her phone rang.
Unknown Number.
She answered cautiously.
A calm female voice spoke.
"If you are Olivia Brooks..."
"...don't go to Arthur Whitmore."
Olivia frowned.
"Who is this?"
"Someone trying to keep you alive."
The line disconnected.
Seconds later...
Her apartment exploded.
Glass shattered across the street.
Flames burst through the windows as neighbors screamed.
Olivia had survived only because she had stepped into the hallway to answer the phone.
Across the city, Arthur received an emergency call from the FBI.
"Mr. Whitmore..."
"We believe someone just attempted to murder your daughter."
Arthur's heart nearly stopped.
"My... daughter?"
The FBI agent replied,
"The same people who tried to kill Ethan have now targeted her."
Arthur slowly looked toward Samuel.
Samuel's face turned pale.
"There was never just one child..."
"There were twins."
Arthur stood despite his injuries.
Pain shot through his body, but he ignored it.
"They stole my son..."
"They hid my daughter..."
"And now they're trying to erase the last witness."
He looked directly at Ethan.
"This isn't over."
Ethan nodded, determination burning in his eyes.
"No."
"It's just beginning."
Far away, hidden inside a luxury mansion overlooking the ocean, an elegant woman watched the explosion on a giant television.
She smiled coldly.
Then she picked up an old family photograph.
With a lighter, she slowly burned Arthur's face away.
"My father should have finished this family thirty years ago."
She looked into the flames and whispered,
May you like
"Now I'll finish what he started."
