Chapter 15 - Fire on the Coast

At 11:45 PM, the Port of Genoa hummed with the mechanical roar of heavy cranes and cargo lifts. A team of six mercenaries hired by the Barone family crept through the shadows of Sector 4, carrying industrial incendiary canisters toward a stack of high-value electronics containers bearing the Santoro crest.
"Plant the charges near the base," the lead arsonist whispered, checking his watch. "Fifteen minutes to midnight. Barone wants this entire yard reduced to scrap."
They worked quickly, unrolling wires and securing the explosives. At 11:58 PM, the lead operative pulled out a detonator remote, grinning in the dark.
"Say goodbye to Il Marmo," he muttered, pressing the activation button.
Click.
Nothing happened.
The arsonist frowned, pressing the button again. Still nothing. The red indicator light on the remote flickered, turned blue, and then flashed a sharp, mocking error code.
"What the hell...?" he muttered, tapping the device.
Suddenly, the massive floodlights illuminating Sector 4 snapped off, plunging the entire shipping yard into total darkness. A second later, red emergency strobes burst to life overhead, casting long, bloody trails across the shipping containers.
From the shadows of the stacked steel boxes, dozens of heavily armed Santoro enforcers stepped out silently, their weapons leveled with absolute precision.

"Drop the detonator," a voice boomed across the yard.
Before the mercenaries could even raise their hands, they were swarmed, disarmed, and zip-tied face-first against the cold concrete.
