Chapter 10 - The Ultimate ChoiceLily tried to pull away, but Sterling’s grip, though gentle, was unyielding. She looked up into his cold eyes, realizing with sudden, crushing horror that Marcus Vale hadn't been working for a foreign broker at all. He had been working for the man standing right in front of her.

"Why?" Lily demanded, her voice echoing off the concrete walls of the archive room. "Why sabotage your own company? Why try to destroy the Prometheus Engine?"
Sterling let out a soft sigh, releasing her shoulder and walking over to the rusted table to pick up her father's old cassette tape.
"Because the Prometheus Engine isn't a clean energy generator, Lily," Sterling said calmly, turning to face her. "It's a weaponized tectonic amplifier. Ethan Cross thinks he's saving the world with green energy. But what he doesn't know—what your father figured out before we had to silence him—is that whoever controls the engine controls the seismic stability of every major continent on Earth."
Sterling walked closer, stopping just a few feet away, his expression turning deadly serious.
"Your mother thinks she's safe now with her hundred million dollars and her corner office," Sterling continued smoothly. "And you think you're a hero. But the game isn't over, Lily. In fact, it's just getting started."
He reached into his tailored suit jacket and pulled out a sleek, black micro-drive—the exact duplicate of the master key Lily had purged from the system hours earlier.
"You have two choices, little genius," Sterling said, holding out the drive toward her. "You can take this drive back to Ethan, tell him everything you saw here, and watch as this entire building—and everyone inside it, including your mother—comes crashing down around you in a war you cannot win. Or... you can take your place beside the people who actually built this world, and help me finish what your father started."
Lily looked down at the black micro-drive in Sterling's palm, then up at the dark, narrow exit stairs leading back up to the light. Her heart hammered against her ribs like the rhythmic pulsing of the engine upstairs.
She didn't reach for the drive. Instead, she took a deliberate step back, her small hands clenching into tight fists at her sides.
"My dad didn't build a weapon for monsters," Lily said, her voice ringing clear and steady through the dark archive room. "And I'm not going to finish it for you either."
Before Sterling could move, Lily spun on her heel, sprinting toward the service stairs with every ounce of strength in her small body, leaving the billionaire standing alone in the dark with a cold, dangerous smile spreading across his face.

The war for CrossTech had only just begun. And the final battle would be fought not with money or armies, but with the brilliant mind of a ten-year-old girl who refused to be broken.
Follow-Up Question:Do you want the next arc of Lily's battle against Arthur Sterling to focus on her building a counter-system in secret, or would you prefer a dramatic showdown where she exposes Sterling live in front of the entire global board of directors?
