Chapter 17 - Message to the KingdomDominic didn't shoot. He didn't have to.

Before Marco could lunge, two of Dominic’s massive capos materialized from the side alcoves, moving with brutal, blinding speed. In less than three seconds, Marco and his men were slammed face-first against the marble floor, their arms wrenched behind their backs in agonizing joint locks.

Marco gasped for air, his nose bleeding against the cold stone. "You... you can't touch us! Don Rossi will burn this entire city to the ground!"

Dominic stopped just inches away from Marco’s face, crouching down slowly until they were eye to eye. The look in Dominic’s eyes wasn't rage—it was the cold, terrifying emptiness of an executioner.

"Tell Don Rossi that the lion is done sleeping," Dominic whispered softly, his voice cutting like a razor. "Tell him that if any of his dogs ever set foot on my property again, I won't just send them to federal prison. I'll send them home in pieces."

Dominic stood up, straightening his cuffs. "Take them away. Dump them at the front steps of Rossi’s brownstone before sunrise. Leave the signal jammer on their chests."

As the whimpering intruders were dragged out into the night, Sophia walked out from the kitchen hallway, clutching a dish towel to her chest, her face pale with fright.

"Mr. Moretti... what—what happened?"

Dominic turned to her, the terrifying predator instantly vanishing, replaced by the gentle, protective protector of the house. "Go back to sleep, Sophia. Lily is safe. The monsters outside just learned that fairy tales are real."
