Chapter 19 - The Eye of the StormInside the Manhattan mansion, the atmosphere was strangely serene.

While the underworld prepared for an all-out war, Dominic sat in the grand library, reviewing architectural schematics for a charitable foundation he was quietly setting up under Lily’s name.

Sophia walked in, her hands trembling as she set down a secure tablet displaying intercepted radio chatter from the Rossi camp.

"Dominic... they're calling for an all-out assault. Rossi has mobilized every man he has. They're coming here tonight. We need to leave. We need to go to the safehouse."

Dominic looked up from his tablet. He didn't look scared; he looked profoundly at peace. He stood up, walked over to the window, and watched the morning light catch the fountain outside where Lily was currently attempting to teach her one-eared rabbit how to skip stones.

"We aren't running, Sophia," Dominic said quietly, turning to face her with absolute conviction. "This house is our home now. A king doesn't flee his own throne because a jackal is barking at the gates."

"But the numbers—"

"War isn't about numbers, Sophia," Dominic interrupted gently. "It's about clarity. Rossi is fighting for an empire he wants to conquer. I am fighting for a home I fought hard to rebuild."

He walked past her, pausing at the doorway. "Keep Lily upstairs tonight. When the storm hits, I want her to hear nothing harsher than a good bedtime story."
