Chapter 2 - The Freezing of the EmpireWithin twenty minutes, the illusion of Damian’s wealth dissolved into dust.

Marcus’s team moved through the penthouse with the terrifying efficiency of a military strike squad. Technicians in black tactical suits bypassed the home automation systems, locking down the smart home network, disabling biometric entry, and overriding all financial terminals.

Damian rushed toward his home office, desperate to reach his terminal, but two security guards blocked the doorway like twin monoliths of granite.

"Out of my way!" Damian screamed, his face purple with rage and terror. "You can't do this! This is private property! I am the CEO of Sterling Enterprises! I'll have you all arrested!"

"Sterling Enterprises was liquidated at 8:02 PM," Marcus said coldly, walking past him with a stack of digital tablet devices. "Your corporate credit lines were revoked the moment the boss gave the order. As of three minutes ago, your business accounts show a zero balance, and your corporate cards have been flagged for immediate seizure."

Veronica clung to Damian’s arm like a drowning animal, her makeup slightly smeared from shock. "Damian, do something! Call your father's lawyers! Call someone! Why are you just standing there letting these freaks talk to us like this?"

"Shut up!" Damian snapped, shoving her away in a sudden burst of panicked fury. The veneer of their toxic romance shattered instantly under the pressure of ruin. "Don't you realize? It's gone! Everything is gone!"

Elena strolled into the hallway, her posture immaculate. The silk dress that Damian had mocked earlier as a 'charity gift' suddenly looked like a queen's coronation gown. She stopped a few feet away from them, watching their meltdown with cold detachment.

"You wanted drama, Damian?" Elena asked, echoing the very words he had used to mock her tears just an hour ago. "You wanted a spectacle to prove how powerful you were in front of your little mistress?"

Damian swallowed hard, his knees feeling weak. He dropped to his knees—not out of respect, but because his body could no longer support the weight of his terror. He crawled a few inches forward, reaching out a trembling hand toward the hem of Elena's dress.

"Elena... please," Damian sobbed, his voice cracking pathetically. "We were together for five years. Remember the apartment on 4th Street? Remember how we started? I made a mistake. Veronica meant nothing to me—she was just a distraction, a phase! Please, don't do this. I'll give her up. I'll throw her out right now!"

Veronica gasped, her eyes widening in betrayal. "Damian! You lying piece of trash!"

"Shut your whore mouth!" Damian screamed back at her, his mask completely slipping, revealing the coward beneath the expensive suit. "If it wasn't for you pushing me to humiliate her, none of this would have happened!"

Elena watched the spectacle with unblinking eyes. There was no anger left in her heart—only a vast, freezing emptiness. The man she had loved, the man she had secretly rescued from bankruptcy three times using her own personal capital while letting him take the credit, was nothing more than a pathetic, cowardly parasite.

"Marcus," Elena said softly.

"Yes, Boss?"

"Have them escorted out. The penthouse lease expires at midnight. I don't want a single trace of their existence left in my building by morning."

"Right away," Marcus replied.

Four guards moved in instantly. Damian shrieked, kicking and flailing as they hoisted him up by his arms, while Veronica screamed profanities, her nails clawing at the air as they dragged them both toward the service elevators.

The heavy oak doors slid shut, cutting off their cries.

Elena stood alone in the center of the vast, gold-trimmed living room. She bent down, picked up the gold ring from the floor, and slipped it back onto her finger where it belonged.
