Chapter 10 - Dawn Over the RiverThree months later, the headlines across every major global newspaper didn't feature the glittering engagement parties of Marsh Industries anymore.

Instead, the front pages screamed a much louder truth: THE MARSH EMPIRE FALLS – BILLIONS SEIZED IN HISTORIC ANTI-CORRUPTION RAID.

The historic Marsh Estate was gone, reduced to a fenced-off archaeological ruin where federal investigators continued unearthing decades of buried secrets. Arthur Vance and the remaining board members were behind bars awaiting trial, their syndicate dismantled piece by piece.

Down by the riverbank, far away from the skyscrapers and champagne toasts of high society, a small, bright yellow food truck sat parked beneath a canopy of oak trees.

Dileia Brooks wiped down the stainless-steel counter with a clean cloth, smiling as she looked out the service window.

A few feet away, sitting on a wooden bench in the morning sunlight, three-year-old Sophia was carefully brushing the mane of her little wooden horse, Thunder.

A tall man in a simple plaid shirt and jeans walked up to the truck, holding two paper cups of steaming coffee. He handed one to Dileia, his face warm with a genuine, relaxed smile that the elite circles of the city had never seen.

"How's business today?" Julian asked softly.

"Better than silver polishing," Dileia laughed, taking a sip of the coffee. "And nobody is wearing $10,000 dresses."

Julian chuckled, glancing over toward the river where a battered sedan was parked by the gravel road. Leaning against the passenger door, wearing a simple denim jacket and sunglasses, Clare watched them with a quiet, hesitant smile. She wasn't part of Julian's daily life yet—the road to forgiveness and rebuilding trust was long and difficult—but for the first time, she was living in the real world, working an honest job under her own name.

Julian looked back down at Sophia, who looked up from her wooden horse and waved cheerfully at him with both hands.

Julian waved back, took a deep breath of the fresh river air, and realized that sometimes, the only way to find your future is to let the past burn all the way to the ground.
