Chapter 8 - The Price of RedemptionInside the subterranean vault, Julian stared at the glowing master console.

The exterior monitoring feed—patched into the estate's hidden security cameras—flashed on the main screen. Julian watched in horror as the camera in the service tunnel showed Ethan, Dileia, and little Sophia cornered by Arthur Vance.
"No," Julian breathed, his blood turning to ice.
Clare scrambled to her feet and rushed to the monitor, her face turning chalk-white as she recognized the man standing in the tunnel.
"Vance," she gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. "He was supposed to be in Zurich. If he has Ethan and the child..."
"He's going to execute them," Julian said, his voice dropping into a terrifying, dead calm. He didn't hesitate anymore. He reached down to the main control panel of the vault, entered his father's biometric override code, and slammed his palm onto the master transmission button.
"What are you doing?!" Clare screamed, grabbing his arm. "If you broadcast the archives now, Vance's firewall will trace the signal straight to this IP address! They'll know we're alive!"
"Let them know," Julian said, turning to look her dead in the eye. "My father spent his entire life hiding behind steel walls and bleeding innocent people dry to protect his legacy. I'm done hiding."
He picked up a heavy emergency radio handset wired directly into the estate's public address system—a system that connected every speaker inside the mansion and the surrounding service tunnels.
Julian pressed the transmit trigger. His voice boomed through the underground tunnels and the burning halls of the estate, carrying the raw, commanding authority of a true Marsh heir.
"Arthur Vance," Julian’s voice echoed through the tunnel speakers, halting the cold-blooded executive in his tracks. "Drop your weapon."
Vance slowly looked up toward a concealed security speaker on the tunnel ceiling, a dark, sardonic smile playing across his lips. "Ah, the prodigal son. Playing hero in the dark. You think a broadcasted file saves you, Julian? By the time the authorities decrypt a fraction of this data, you, your little security guard, and the maid's brat will be floating face-down in the river."
"You didn't listen to the entire file, Arthur," Julian replied coldly.
Vance’s smile faltered slightly. "What are you talking about?"
"Check your phone," Julian said.
Vance frowned, slowly lowering his silenced pistol an inch. With his gloved hand, he pulled a secure satellite phone from his coat pocket. The screen was flashing a high-priority, red-alert notification from the international banking network.
Vance unlocked the phone. His eyes scanned the digital ledger.
The color drained from his face so fast he looked like a corpse under a streetlamp.
"That's impossible," Vance whispered, his voice trembling for the first time. "All the offshore accounts... the sovereign debt portfolios..."
"I just transferred every single dollar of the syndicate's operational capital into global humanitarian relief funds," Julian said steadily, his thumb resting over the self-destruct trigger. "And the decryption keys for the entire archive have been automatically dispatched to every major news outlet, federal prosecutor, and investigative journalist on the planet. The empire is gone, Arthur. You have no money, no leverage, and no cover."

Vance let out a feral snarl of pure rage, raising his pistol with lethal intent toward Ethan and the child. "Then I'll burn it all down with you!"
Before Vance could pull the trigger, a heavy steel access hatch directly above him dropped open with a thunderous crash.
