Chapter 10 - The Horizon Belongs to MeLater that night, long after the dinner meeting had concluded and the city had quieted down into a low, steady hum of neon and headlights, I stood alone on the private balcony of my penthouse apartment.

The wind caught the ends of my hair, carrying the sharp, crisp scent of approaching winter. Below me, the city stretched out infinitely in every direction—a vast, intricate web of bridges, towers, and gleaming skyscrapers, pulsing with life and ambition.

I traced the curve of the horizon with my eyes, remembering the night at the board reception when Sienna Vey had stolen my strategy while my husband stood by in cowardly silence. I remembered the cold, dismissive look in Adrian’s eyes when he handed me divorce papers and four hundred thousand dollars, genuinely believing I was nothing without him.

How wrong he had been.

Every single light in that sprawling city, every major foundation, every structural triumph—they were all testaments to a truth Adrian had refused to see until it was too late.

I wasn't just the woman who stood behind the man.

I was the architect who built the ground he stood on. And when I pulled out the foundation, he didn't just fall—he vanished.

I raised my crystal glass of sparkling water toward the glittering horizon, took a slow, deliberate sip, and whispered into the night air:

“Let them all try to take credit now.”
