Chapter 6 - The Fall of the High-Society QueenWith the conspirators subdued and led away in handcuffs toward waiting police cruisers outside, a profound, breathless silence settled over the grand Solmere Hotel lobby.

Every single high-society guest who had watched, laughed, or ignored Charlotte just minutes earlier now stood frozen, unable to meet her gaze. They realized with sinking horror that their entire social standing, their business contracts, and their luxury lifestyles depended entirely on the mercy of the young woman they had just allowed to be humiliated.
And then, Charlotte’s cold, unforgiving eyes landed on Victoria Vance.
Victoria was trembling violently, her expensive white silk gown stained with spilled champagne and her own nervous sweat. She realized she was completely exposed. Her father’s business contracts were tied directly to Marcus Vance’s criminal enterprise. Her social standing was built on quicksand.
“V-Victoria...” Victoria stammered, taking a desperate step backward until her back hit a towering display of white orchids. “I... I didn't know. If I had known who you were—”
“If you had known who I was, you would have smiled to my face while plotting to stab me in the back,” Charlotte interrupted, her voice cutting like a razor blade. She walked slowly toward the trembling socialite, every step echoing rhythmically against the polished marble. “Instead, you chose to show your true colors. You chose cruelty. You chose abuse.”
“Please,” Victoria choked out, tears of genuine panic streaming down her face, ruining her designer makeup. “Please, don't ruin my family. Don't ban us from the hotel. I’m sorry! I’ll apologize! I’ll get on my knees right now!”
“Oh, you’ll get on your knees,” Charlotte said softly, stopping just inches away from her. “Just not to me.”
Charlotte turned to the lead security guard, who was standing at attention, sweating profusely.
“You,” Charlotte said sharply.
“Y-Yes, Chairwoman Vale?!” the guard blurted out, snapping a rigid salute.
“Escort Ms. Vance out of the building. Not through the front revolving doors, where the press is currently gathering. Take her through the service elevator, through the alleyway garbage bays, exactly the way she tried to force me out.”
“Right away, ma’as!”
Two guards stepped forward, grabbing Victoria firmly by her bare arms.

“No! Let me go! You can’t do this to me! I’m a Vance!” Victoria screamed, kicking her stiletto heels as she was dragged backward across the very marble floor where she had humiliated Charlotte moments before.
The ironic justice of the moment was not lost on a single person in the room.
