Chapter 15 - The New World OrderThree months later, the asylum grounds looked peaceful under the autumn foliage. The press had long since stopped asking questions; the state audits had been permanently cleared thanks to "favorable bureaucratic reviews" signed by a heavily medicated, compliant former health inspector.

Director Arthur Vance stood on the balcony of his third-floor office, watching the courtyard below.
In the garden where no one watched, a group of women walked leisurely along the gravel paths. Among them was Eleanor, pushing a heavy, custom-built stroller. Inside the stroller, two children sat side by side, their pearl-like skin glowing faintly in the afternoon sun, their amber eyes looking up at the sky with an intelligence far beyond human comprehension.
They weren't patients anymore. They were the architects of the next era.
Arthur opened his desk drawer, ignoring the tarnished steel plague mask entirely. He picked up a fresh, blank ledger, opened to the very first page, and picked up his pen.
The loop was complete. The system was secure. And the world outside remained blissfully, dangerously unaware of what was growing beneath their feet.

“Project Genesis: Day One.”
