Chapter 4 - The Betrayal at BlackwoodA Symphony of Gunfire and FireDominic flipped open the briefcase, revealing a series of encrypted detonation triggers and high-caliber weaponry. He tossed a compact submachine gun to Elena. She caught it effortlessly, her stance instantly shifting from fragile victim to lethal operative—a terrifying sight that confirmed every word she had spoken.

"You still know how to use that?" Dominic asked.
"They spent fifteen years teaching me how to kill," Elena said, her eyes burning with a dark intensity. "I just chose not to use it on you."
"Good," Dominic said. "Because tonight, we burn it all down."
The heavy oak doors of the safehouse blew inward with a deafening flashbang explosion. Smoke poured into the foyer. Marcus’s men swept into the room, weapon lights cutting through the haze.
Dominic didn't give them a chance to set up a crossfire. He detonated the pre-set charges in the ceiling plaster. Tons of concrete and wooden debris collapsed directly onto the lead assault team, crushing three men instantly.
Elena dropped to one knee, firing precise three-round bursts into the smoke. Two rogue guards fell immediately, shot cleanly through the eye sockets. Her movement was fluid, terrifyingly efficient—the product of a childhood spent in the Syndicate's brutal training camps.
"Dominic! Right flank!" she yelled, dropping her empty magazine and slapping in a fresh one without looking down.
Dominic pinned two men behind the marble fireplace, advancing with a tactical shotgun. Each blast blew through their light body armor, throwing them backward into the flames.
"Marcus!" Dominic roared over the gunfire. "You were ten years old when I took you off the streets! I fed your family!"
From behind a tactical shield in the courtyard, Marcus laughed dryly. "And you kept us under your thumb for twenty years, Farrell! Gabriel offered us true autonomy! The Black Syndicate runs the globe! You're just a glorified harbor master!"
Marcus gestured to his men. A shoulder-fired rocket slammed into the upper floor of the safehouse, triggering a massive fireball that blew out the remaining windows.
Dominic was thrown off his feet by the shockwave, hitting the wall hard. Blood dripped from his temple.
Through the burning haze, Marcus walked into the shattered living room, stepping over the bodies of his own men. He drew his sidearm, pointing it directly at Dominic’s head.
"End of the line, boss," Marcus said coldly. "Any last words for your fake wife?"
A loud click sounded from right behind Marcus’s ear.
Marcus froze.
Elena stood behind him, her face covered in soot and blood, the barrel of her weapon pressed firmly against the base of his skull.

"His name," Elena whispered softly into Marcus's ear, "is Dominic Farrell. And you aren't worthy to speak it."
BANG.
