Chapter 6 - The Ultimate GambitA Faustian BargainThe rain poured down, chilling the air to near freezing. Dominic stared at the sleek black device in Gabriel's hand. The red light pulsed like a tiny, hungry eye.

"Dominic... no," Elena begged, grabbing his hand. "Don't give him what he wants. He will destroy everything you built."

"Shut up, Elena," Dominic said, his voice dangerously low.

He looked at Gabriel. The empire he had spent fifteen years building—the shipping docks, the shell companies, the hundreds of millions in untraceable assets—flashed through his mind. None of it meant anything. Not a single dollar.

"What do you want?" Dominic asked Gabriel.

"Total surrender," Gabriel replied instantly. "Sign over your entire logistics network to the Black Syndicate. Transfer your offshore accounts to our Zurich vault. Walk away with nothing. Do that, and I hand over the master disarm key for Elena's heart."

"Dominic, don't!" Elena shouted, trying to pull him back. "He’s lying! He won't let either of us live!"

"I don't have a choice, Elena!" Dominic roared back, turning to her with raw, unadulterated pain in his eyes. "I spent seven years waiting for you to look at me without fear! I spent seven years building a life where you might one day feel safe! I am not going to watch you die in front of me!"

Dominic reached into his jacket, pulled out an encrypted satellite tablet, and tapped the screen.

"The vault keys are uploading to your server now, Gabriel," Dominic said, his voice dead of all emotion. "Everything. The ports, the warehouses, the money. It's all yours."

Gabriel checked his phone. A slick grin spread across his face as the green confirmation text scrolled down his screen.

"Fascinating," Gabriel murmured. "The legendary Dominic Farrell, brought to his knees by a girl who never even said she loved him."

Gabriel tossed a small silver USB drive into the mud at Dominic's feet.

"The disarm code is on there," Gabriel said, turning toward the helicopter. "Have a nice life in poverty, Farrell."

"Wait!" Dominic shouted as Gabriel climbed into the chopper. "You promised the master key!"

Gabriel looked down from the open door of the aircraft, his smile turning razor-sharp.

"I lied," Gabriel said over the roar of the starting engines. "The drive only pauses the timer for twenty-four hours. If you want the permanent fix, you'll have to come to my fortress in Geneva. But you won't. Because you have no money, no men, and no power left."

The helicopter lifted off into the stormy night sky, leaving Dominic and Elena standing alone in the dark forest.

Elena fell to her knees in the mud, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Why did you do that?" she wept, clutching her chest. "You gave up everything! Your legacy! Your family's honor!"

Dominic knelt beside her, pulling her small, shaking frame into his arms. He kissed her forehead, wiping away the mud and rain from her cheeks.

"You are my legacy, Elena," Dominic whispered softly. "Now... let's go kill your father."
