“Just make sure the boy takes the fall, Eleanor,” Arthur’s recorded voice rang out clearly from the overhead speakers. “If the board finds out my nephew failed the cutoff, the whole endowment audit blows up. Blame it on his background. No one will question it.”

Arthur froze at the podium, staring up at the screen in absolute horror. The color drained completely from his face, leaving him looking like a ghost. He reached out with a trembling hand, trying to unplug the podium microphone, but the wireless system had been locked down remotely.

From the back of the press room, the heavy double doors pushed open. A pair of federal marshals, accompanied by state investigators, walked briskly down the center aisle, their footsteps echoing heavily against the floor.

"Arthur Sterling Jr.," the lead investigator announced, flashing a federal warrant in front of the cameras. "You are under arrest for wire fraud, civil rights violations, and conspiracy to commit institutional discrimination."

As the cuffs clicked into place around Arthur’s wrists, the flashbulbs blinded him. The man who had once ruled the educational board with an iron fist was led out of the building in broad daylight, while the live chat rooms on the stream logged over three million concurrent viewers cheering for his downfall.
