Jordan sat in the back of a sleek black sedan parked across the street, accompanied by his mother and a pro-bono civil rights attorney who had reached out overnight. He looked out the tinted window at the media circus, feeling a strange mixture of numbness and anticipation.
"Are you ready for this, Jordan?" his attorney, Marcus Vance, asked, adjusting his glasses.
"I just want my name cleared," Jordan said quietly. "And I want everyone to know I didn't cheat."
Before Marcus could answer, his phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, a slow, vindicated smile spreading across his face. "Well, Jordan. You're about to get much more than that."
He turned his phone around to show a freshly published press release from the Meridian Foundation board.
